Residents turn up in hundreds for annual show

Cambridge News
June 2010

Littleport was the place to be for fun-seeking families on Saturday.

It may be more than 100 years old but the annual Littleport Show was as popular as ever.

Hundreds of people flocked to celebrate all things rural at the event, which first started in 1888.

The highlight in the main arena was the incredible James Dylan Stunt World International Motorcycle Stunt Show, which had the crowds cheering for more.

But the fun didn't end there - there were eagle and vulture shows, vintage vehicle displays, garden shows, fairground rides, children's activities and a huge range of trade and craft stalls to browse.

There were also food stalls galore to tickle the tastebuds.

As ever, the show raised much-needed cash for local charities, which will be distributed towards the end of the year.

Paula Law, show secretary, said: "Our numbers were a little down on last year but we still had hundreds of families coming through the gates.

"The weather was excellent and as ever, there was so much for people to do that there were smiles on everyone's faces.

"Everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves, which is what our show is all about."

The fun continues this Saturday with the annual Highfield Littleport Open-Air Concert.

Tribute bands Wham!, Duran and Meatloaf, and local band Halo will be delighting the crowds from 6pm onwards.

There will also be on-site catering, free parking and a licensed bar.
