Ely Perspective group pays for new leaflet stand for railway station ticket hall

Ely News

The Ely Perspective group has paid for a new leaflet stand which now sits in the ticket hall of Ely railway station.

The stand is jam-packed with leaflets provided by many of Ely's shops, businesses, community groups and tourist attractions.

The new, improved design of the stand was chosen to replace a previous model - it has increased leaflet capacity and is single-sided, which the perspective group says is more in keeping with the layout of the ticket hall.

Ely Perspective members, who are all volunteers, maintain the stand by keeping it fully stocked and tidy, as well as collecting leaflets donated by various places around Ely.

Daniel Block, who has recently taken the position of chairman for Ely Perspective, said: "As one of the busiest gateways to the city, we think it's important to have a leaflet stand at the station which informs commuters and visitors about what's happening in Ely.

"We are grateful to the station staff who have been co-operative and helpful to us. It is exciting to see so many people eager to provide us with leaflets to fill the stand."

This is the latest project achieved by Ely Perspective, who have previously worked on various projects including the Eel Trail, the 'Welcome to Ely' signs and, most recently, a series of commemorative plaques dotted around the city.

Ely Perspective exists to "enhance the cultural and economic vitality of Ely by building upon its unique heritage and community links", with a focus on design, organisation, promotion and economic regeneration.

It is open to anyone with an interest in Ely.

Daniel said: "If you are passionate about the city and perhaps have ideas for new ways to improve and enhance Ely, or would simply like to hear what Ely Perspective is currently working on, please get in touch."
