College wins top award

Cambridge Town Crier
15th November 2002

Hills Road Sixth Form College has been handed a top award for its work in promoting art in the community.

The Queen's Anniversary Prize for Further and Higher Education has been given to the college for the service it provides to the sixth form and to adult students.

Dr Wilkinson said: "Ted is well known within the wider college community for his creativity, vitality and enthusiasm. For more than 20 years he has encouraged those working alongside him to build an ambitious programme of art and design, involving professional artists, architects and designers working in the college. The award will be celebrated by Ted, his colleagues and, of course bt the many students, young and old, and organisations who have been directly involved in this exciting community partnership."

Future projects for the college will include murals at Addenbrooke's Hospital, and the installation of two sculptures for the Cambridge Cycleway.
